While many people view PRINCE2 as a "Traditional Project Management Method" is not inherently "dis-agile". In the latest release (2009) it introduces the concepts of "Tailoring" and "Embedding". Tailoring is where it is "scaled to fit" and Embedding is where it is fitted in with organisational processes. PRINCE2 Agile is essentially a "Tailoring" and "Embedding" guide to a specific delivery approach i.e. Agile within a project governance and control structure i.e. PRINCE2. PRINCE2 Agile gives guidance on how to provide the "best of both worlds" and avoid the "worst of both worlds". Both ends of the spectrum is illustrated in the table below:- |

|
Governance is focused on the needs of the Agile process and knows the key areas to look out for.

Which Organisations Benefit From PRINCE2 Agile
PRINCE2 Agile is ideal for the following types of organisations:-
- Organisations with an existing project management framework who want to become more Agile. These types of organisations have recognised that the current project management approach does not have sufficient throughput to meet market or stakeholder needs. They don't want to loose all control but they do want to speed up.
- Organisations who have difficulty controlling their Agile projects. These types of organisations have an Agile framework which is delivering rapidly but not always in line with organisational expectations. Outputs from the various projects can clash, overlap or leave gaps.
